Here at Cork Clinic Orthodontics, we recommend that all children receive their first visit to the Orthodontist by eight years of age.

At Cork Clinic Orthodontics we offer a variety of treatments for children including, fixed braces, functional braces, removable braces, early interceptive treatment and retainers.
When you attend for a consultation you will complete a medical history form and also our smile evaluation form, when this is complete we will take some photographs of your teeth, then, Dr O’Leary will perform a complete examination of your smile and bite alignment.
She will then sit down and go through her findings with you and she will answer any questions you may have while discussing your treatment options with you.
DURING YOUR CONSULTATION, WE WILL:
Review your dental and medical history.

Work with you to create a customised treatment plan
Discuss all financial information and payment plans etc
The type of discomfort you experience depends on the type of brace you have fitted. Fitting the brace itself does not hurt but as your teeth move it is usual to experience tenderness for the first 3-5 days.
This is probably our most frequently asked question. The length of treatment varies from patient to patient but in general treatment can take anything from 6 to 24 months
Yes, wearing retainers after your braces have been removed is an essential part of your treatment. To keep your smile and your teeth in position after your braces are removed you will need to wear your retainers as specified by Dr O’Leary.
